Crystal Ark, 2011
ink and colored lead on drafting film, 30x30”
Crystal Ark follows up on Positive I.D. Both began with the most perfect grid I could possibly draw. Where I found perfect squares, I “pulled them up” as dimensional forms. Where half a square was perfect, I pulled up one level to make a diamond shape. Where both halves were perfect, I pulled up two levels to make a pyramid shape. Imperfect squares stayed flat. Result: a map of perfection? A map of persistence? Or maybe just a map of concentration? Or all of the above.
